Alex Marinis B.E. (Comp. Sys.) LL.B. (Hons)
Alex completed a summer clerkship with Peter Speakman & Co in January 2004, early in his legal studies. He then went on to complete his Articled Clerkship in 2008 after graduating with Honours from Deakin University, and has been a lawyer with Peter Speakman & Co since being admitted to practice law in 2009. Prior to his legal career, Alex worked as a technical trainer in the telecommunications and legal industries.
Alex is also a computer systems engineer, and uses his considerable technical experience and knowledge to advantage in a range of legal matters.
In addition to information technology and intellectual property matters, Alex has extensive experience in many of the Peter Speakman & Co practice areas, including property, business and commercial law and litigation.
Clients appreciate Alex’s ability to draw upon his experience as a workplace trainer to explain complex legal concepts in a simple and effective manner, and his focus on the practical aspects of the law as they apply to his clients.
He enjoys reading – the book is, apparently, always better than the film/TV adaptation – though you can often find him at the local cinema trying to find the exception that proves the rule.
